Times New Roman is the historic font version created for the Times of London newspaper in the 1931.
It was based on the earlier typeface of Plantin and designed in order to bring the publication up to speed with the newer, changing times of printing and typography. First drawn by Victor Lardent and Stanley Morison for the Monotype hot metal caster, it has come to represent a clear, legible standard and is one of the most widely used fonts today.
